The MSU Integrated Residency Program in General Surgery was initiated in 1988. Since its inception, the residency program has been closely tied to two of the campuses affiliated with CHM: Lansing, and Flint. Our residents spend approximately two-thirds of their time at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, a 600 bed, Level I trauma center, and the remainder at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, a full-service 450 bed hospital. Third-year residents take transplant and pediatric surgery rotations in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Our residency program is a five-year, non-pyramidal program that accepts four categorical residents each year from accredited allopathic and osteopathic medical schools. Preliminary positions are also available at the Program Director's discretion.
We appreciate your interest in the department and would encourage you to check out the official messages from our Program Director on the MSU Surgery Residency website
